Crawling!

Nicholas started to crawl last week. He is still slow now, but I have a feeling that in about a week he'll be keeping me on my feet all day long! He's getting faster everday, won't be long before he's a speed racer!

Grandparent Visit

We had a wonderful visit with Grandmom and Pop-pop! Nicholas loved showing off and basked in the attention, laughing and smiling the whole time. He is one lucky boy to have grandparents who love him so much! I think Nicholas will really miss them tomorrow when he wakes up and realizes Pop-pop isn't waiting to greet him with a smile and a hug. We are looking forward to vacation next month. Nicholas will certainly have some new tricks up his sleeve

"I am one lucky boy!" Nicholas with his new toy Grandmom and Pop-pop bought for him. He also got some new blocks. Thanks again, he is playing with them as I write!

Nicholas' favorite thing to do is to pull all of the blocks out of the turtle Pop-pop made for him. Here he is showing off how he can climb right over the turlte to get to the blocks. He's an animal!

"I love when Grandmom feeds me my fruit and veggies!" Here is Nicholas showing Grandmom his Kiss face in the high chair.

We took advantage of the grandparents being here and decided to take a day at Lake Nubanusit with just me and Chris. It was my first full day away from Nicholas EVER! We spent the day on the canoe and got stuck in a thunder and lightening storm for about an hour and a half. We took cover under a portage landing and drank beer. After the storm we made it to a rope swing. It was scary jumping off the rock, but when I saw little kids doing it, I figured I had to give it a try. Thank you Grandmom and Pop-pop, we had such a great day! I missed my baby, but I think he and his grandparents had a fun day too! Thanks for all your help this entire weekend.

Here is me on my first jump, being a scaredy cat starting on the lower rock.

Here is Chris doing a side flop, ouch!

Another of Chris making the perfect landing!

OK, I know this picture is blurry, but look closely. I am about to do a big belly flop. It was painful, I have welts on my legs to prove it.

6 Months Old

Nicholas was 6 months old this past Thursday. Time goes by so quickly, is this how fast time will pass for the rest of our lives? I finally realized I had an older baby today when we took Nicholas to our local swim beach, to me he was still a newborn. You can see him in the picture above, he was sitting up and playing like a big boy with out the help of me or Chris! These months have been the best, most rewarding and challenging, absolutely fantastic 6 months of our lives! Just when you think you could not love this little person any more than you already do, each day passes and you realize your love grows with him. Our lives have changed more than we could have ever thought possible, but now we cannot imagine our lives without Nicholas; he is the sunshine of our lives!

Nicholas was 16 lbs. 1 oz. and 26 3/4 in. at his 6 month appointment. He is 25% in weight and 75% in height. That basically means he is tall and skinny (hmmm...who does that sound like?) Let's see, what else does 6 months bring? Well, he has been sleeping through the night for the past 3 weeks, roughly 7pm - 6:30am. Yay to Mom and Dad! He is still scootching like crazy, he actually makes it all the way from our living room to the kitchen in a matter of a minute. He drools like a St. Bernard, but still no teeth. Much more I hope you all get to see soon. Each day brings new excitement!

Nicholas and Dad have more than just their good looks in common!

Here is Nicholas proud of himself after making it into the kitchen on his own. Philly's romper courtesy of Aunt Re. And oh yes, what a surprise, he's wearing his drool.

Nicholas is now able to sit in the turtle rocker Pop-pop made for him!

Almost Crawling....

It seems that we may have to baby proof our home very soon. We think Nicholas will be crawling any day now. He gets up on his hands and knees and does the rock. He can also scoot across the room with the blink of any eye, but he isn't actually crawling yet. The blankets we lay down on the floor no longer cover his span. I've posted a video of him doing "the rock". He's a funny guy!

Oh, and he is finally bouncing! I was worried for a while (I know, seems silly). Every baby we know loves to bounce. Down the shore his cousin Tyler bounced and bounced and bounced. Well, this week he finally got it, and now he loves it! I'm not sure if it's a curse because we can't take him out now! Here is a video of him having a good time doing the bouncy, bouncy, bouncy...

Long Beach Island - June 2008

We had a blast down at the New Jersey shore! It has been years since me, my aunts, cousins, and even brother have been able to get together let alone go on vacation. The only two that were missing were Corntey and Justin. I was so happy to spend time with everyone, as it seems that out busy lives keep us from doing this more often. My girlfriends came down for my birthday and my Uncle Bill, Aunt Kathy, and cousin Zoot even made it up for a few days from Annapolis. I took Nicholas to the beach several times while down, but unfortunately I didn't get to capture the actual event on camera. It was actually a mess! I'm not sure if I will take him again until he can walk, or at least sit up (he can now!!). Sand in the face was not fun. So, for most of the week we stayed at the "rock beach'"out front of my mom's house down there. If we got hot we had the baby pool and the bay at our feet! That was all that we needed! We did walk down to the beach every day though, and Nicholas really did enjoy watching the water. He didn't even cry when I dipped his feet in the ocean (I cried, it was cold!). I miss everyone already and hope that people take us up on the offer to come hang out at our lake beaches up here some time this summer. I put together a slide show. Unfortunately, it would only allow a certain amount of photos, we had plenty thanks to our photographer Grammy!

Too Cute!!!

Need I say more....??

4th of July Weekend

Happy 4th of July!! Our 1st July 4th weekend with Nicholas was pretty uneventful. After such a busy month of June it felt good to just kind of relax. We did not get to make it to any fireworks, but Nicholas sure didn't have a problem sleeping through them. The show was pretty close to our house, so they were LOUD! We did manage to stop by the playground, the Fire Station Open House, and fish/hike; country living whooohooo! While we were fishing this weekend Nicholas got the opportunity to touch his first fish before Chris let it go; such a nature boy already!

First Swim Lesson

Nicholas had his first swim lesson today. The best part was that it was in a therapy pool so it was really warm, just how Nicholas and I like it! Of course they aren't actually teaching them to swim at this age, more just geting them use to the water. You can already tell that Nicholas is a water baby, just like his Dad. He doesn't even seem to mind the cold lake water that we have taken him in. Chris was able to leave work early due to the holiday weekend and capture a few moments on camera...

Here is one video from his lesson...

This one is of Nicholas going under the water with the instructor. Suprisingly, he was calm and didn't mind it. I'm not sure if I would like getting dunked :-)
